The Shortest Day of the Year

Yes, the shortest day of the year is upon us. December 21. At least in the northern hemisphere. The weather in San Diego has turned grey and chilly as an "atmospheric river" bears down on California. Rain events like this are welcome although inconvenient for those of us with constant outdoor aspirations. So, less light and rain. Dark and wet. Gloomy and depressing. But at least things turn on Monday when the length of days begins to increase for the next 6 months. Also, the rain in Souther California usually means snow in the Sierra Nevada. And that means skiing! Looking forward to our next trip to Mammoth Lakes in January. I'm hoping for a nice, deep base. Fingers crossed!

The healing process is moving along. The bruises are nearly gone and the scabs have mostly flaked off. A few remaining structural, deeper hurts continue to annoy but I'm back on the bike riding 30 plus miles comfortably. A bit more paranoid than I used to be especially around construction sites which there seem to be more and more of these days. I"m going to make a claim to test the process. It helps being an attorney I suppose.

The Siberian Question is nearly done. I've decided against any epilogue so all I need to do is review the latest additional, edit one section to be more plausible in terms of how high ranking officials would interact with each other and then do a line edit. Then off to the formatter to get the book ready for release. It'll be great to get it off my plate so I can finally come clean to my personal network about who Ross Adams really is. That should be interesting.

Happy Winter Solstice!
